Budapest gay city guide
In recent years even Budapest has become a capital that offers many fun opportunities for gay people. Most of the gay life is concentrated in the area of downtown Pest. In the afternoon, after visiting several museums, you could relax in one of its many spas…. The most common one among homosexuals is the Magnum Sauna, near the National Museum. And before dinner, to start with a nice drink, you can go to one of the many small gay bars in the area. Alongside the museum the best bar is called Bar Action, which organizes events throughout the week.

Budapest is considered the gay metropolis of Eastern Europe. There is a very vibrant gay community who has created many different groups and associations. In Budapest gay couples have the same rights as heterosexuals ones.
On Saturday evenings, bars are very popular, some of which have a beautiful, contemporary architecture. There are many bars and cafes where you can spend the night, many of them with fun shows with go-go boy dancers. If you want, you can go in the underground “relax” or in the lounge room to refresh yourself before dancing to the rhythm of house music. Fancy a slice of pizza? There are also delicious pizzerias waiting for you. Some are small and cozy while others are run by gay people.
Many local bars of the Danube offer during the weekend a variety of fun events including drag queens that perform on stage surrounded by tables arranged over multiple levels. Here you can enjoy cocktails and listen to good music. If you are looking for a cruise, you can go to Korzo head, a beautiful promenade on the Pest side of Erzsébet and Március Bridge.
Most of these bars close at 5 am. Throughout the night they offer various types of commercial and traditional music. For Hungarians, the nights start at 12.30 am and finish late in the clubs.
We can also find monthly magazines directly addressed to the gay community. They don’t only write about the problems faced by the group, but also the opportunities they have in this country. There are reports on the gay movement, on the most popular sites for gay Hungarians as well as a description of all programs for cultural events.
